DOING AWAY WITH NUCLEAR BOMBS

Today the world has nuclear bombs which can destroy the world a hundred times over. Maybe the world revived from such a catastrophe earlier as outlined and compared to similarities in the Hindu epic ‘Mahabaratha’, the ‘Brahma asthra (arrow)’ being the nuclear missile. Most of the nuclear bombs are held by US, Russia and the European countries. Why they want to hold so much of an arsenal is intriguing? May be they are expecting an alien attack from outer space, or they would like to deflect a rogue meteorite! But as long as they control such an arsenal they are a threat to every single nation or humans in the world; and this creates the desire of every single nation to create its own.  Today, US sets the standards of nuclear safety and justifies its own stockpiles and ensures the right to control others nuclear capabilities. A country which still wonders as to how its citizens go suddenly crazy and start shooting unarmed innocents talks about controlling the minds of a few, who directly control these death missiles. The US don’t seem to realise that if the Japanese and its allies had nuclear weapons in World war II, they would have let go every single missile they had and the world would have become the only radioactive planet in the universe.

THE SOLUTION:  Let us calculate the total nuclear payload required to destroy earth, divide it by 100 and distribute this quota to all the countries in the world as per their land area. The quota would be utilized only when a country adheres to all protocols of safety agreed to by all countries under the aegis of the UN. The protocols would also include the following:

1.      The factors which provide stability levels to a country like economy indicators, social equality parameters, gender equality standards (female domination in many countries have triggered conjugated male tyranny), internal strife factors and environmental awareness ( a country who is loathsome of environmental safety would disregard nuclear safety).
2.      The accessibility for international inspectors (UN) to any nuclear stockpile area.
3.      The legal framework and the agreeability to allow any country to submit evidence in the International court of Justice.

Any country which falls short of the above standards would be asked to hand over control of nuclear assets to the UN body for safe custody. If refused, the UN should have the capability and power to go in and forcibly take over. Every country should be made to realise that any nuclear bomb is the asset of humanity and not their own. They hold custody only to feel secure against any sudden aggression by a powerful neighbour. As taking over custody becomes a routine procedure nations will get used to it and ensure all safety compliance.
With technology and information availability becoming an unrestricting life factor, nuclear bombs would be made in a jiffy. As long as unequal factors of owning a nuclear bomb remains, the world would get increasingly nuclearized. To monitor and control nuclear assets all over the world as per US desires, it should be prepared to allocate almost 5% of its GDP (more than today’s Defence budget) for undercover operations, lost businesses with unhappy countries, warfare and diplomatic wrangles, not to mention the loss due to internal vigilance due to constant threats (including, living on emotional edge as evidenced by the new catchword ‘boots on the ground’).
In an argument for alien threat and a rogue meteor, nations can work in unison to thwart the unknown (you never know, the aliens may have control over the gravitational strings of energy and may be capable of reducing earth to zero gravity for a while, hey ------/ convert a curvaceous meteorite into a million rock arrows by splitting its innards).

Note: the above, as far as we can see, is the only solution for avoiding a nuclear annihilation. (my blog always tries to propose the ultimate solutions).

STOPPING EARTHQUAKES (disaster management)

The technique I am suggesting is a simple one but expensive to implement and monitor. The cost has to justified. Life insurance works on the socialitarian principle of 90% subscribers catering for the usual demise percentage of around 5% until 60 yrs of age. Let us suppose that there is an area which is earthquake prone and the casualty is just 30% in a 50 years span. The complete Life insurance cos. would become bankrupt with just one earthquake. Also modern cities have come into being only in the last few decades. An earthquake can have devastating losses. In these areas the expense would be justified.

The Idea
A string of super-thin aluminium containers embedded deep into the faultlines of the earth with pressure sensors over a wide area of a minimum of 500 kms stretching upto thousands of kms. Depth depends on our capability to reach deep and must be varied. Some of the containers are having nukes of 1/2kt yield calculated on the pressure needed to exert enough pressure to contain the forward movement of the advancing plates. Controlled periodic combined nuke explosions would halt the movement of earth plates into each other, considering that the continental plates exist only on the surface and the earths’ core is of molten lava.  It is as simple as that!
When you get into the intricacies the complications will become evident and this exercise when extended to sea beds will present a madness of complexities both in data collection and implementation. This also is as dangerous as playing around with genetic manipulations and robotics. So, ‘Caution’ is the watchword. However as a concept it is possible.

Limitations: we have to be extremely cautious since the counter effects, if not carried out diligently, would be of the creation of earthquakes, deep gorges and mountains elsewhere. Years of data and simulations can only perfect this idea.

TSUNAMI STOPPER

 TSUNAMI   STOPPER:

This is the story of a 80% Tsunami stoppage system.  This may be important because the next great Tsunami may strike in about five to ten years from now (looking at the tectonic movement patterns). Goverments like the Japanese are building expensive dykes but it will be of no use.The system which I propose looks quite simple in its concept but would be a bit complicated in implementation.

The concept presumes that ' nothing can stop a wall of water except another wall of water sent against it . 'WAVE against a WAVE'.

Now how do you create this counter gigantic wave?

A Tsunami can come in from any direction. So, let us suppose that I can create the wave; now how do we change directions?

Wont this wave tilt everything including a ship in its path?

Are you not creating another Tsunami which can hit other land areas?

Ans:

1.  By using one directional explosives placed under the sea in distance intervals with calculations to produce a formidable wave in unison.

2. Computer aided directional control of explosive pack to face the direction of the Tsunami once the deep sea sensors (already in place) detects the wave.

3. The wave propagates much below the surface of the sea once it moves off shore and hence would not disturb surface vessels. Ofcourse submarines are in danger.

4. The created wave  (Tsunami) gets nuetralised once it hits the actual Tsunami wave.

Note:  I have worked out the complete intricacies involved in putting up this detterent. if anyone of you wants to take up the development you may contact me for the complete drawings free of any cost or conditions. One more point; this idea is extremely low cost, compared to building walls and fortresses.

MAKING NUCLEAR REACTORS 100% SAFE  (disaster management)

Now go ahead and build any number of nuclear reactors. My design for 100% safety is so simple that you would wonder as to why at all, we had to suffer so many accidents and then not have a deterrent. The nuclear reactor sits on a network concrete structure which itself is the roof of a 1500ft round trench. On a burn out when the reactor goes out of control due to some reason, the explosives placed below goes off or is triggered to go off making the holding walls to collapse and taking the nuclear reactor down to the bottom of the trench. Further controlled explosions buries the reactor completely. If need be further cooling can be achieved by collapsing the side tunnels and letting in sea water. However this is not preferable, due to the obvious contamination of sea water and its consequent percolation.

 FLOODS (Disaster management)

In disasters of massive scale the government machinery of even the developed world may be useful only in salvaging and replenishing after the deluge is over, not due to lack of infrastructure, but due to the innumerous forms and intensity of disasters and the lack of will in collecting and collating vast data and creating and rehearsing systemised response procedures and mechanisms.

External storage type city-  the solution

An oversized canal is strung around the city with the leeward side of the canal facing the open- country.  Any overflow or release from the water reservoirs can flow through  these canals to the sea/ lower areas outside the city. To cater to the canals getting overwhelmed side channels or sub canals on leeward side can be constructed at regular intervals.  The encircled main canal should leave adequate space for the citys’ expansion.  However the rivers flowing inside the city should be preserved so as to cater for  rains  and cloudbursts inside the city.  Of course the usual drill of keeping city drainages clean is a must. In fact for Chennai like cities this is the one and only solution combined with computer aided weather analysis machines.

Explanation for the diagram

Internal storage type city

In such cities the storage area and flow areas should be kept vacantof houses. Alternatively canals to take the water away in entirely different directions can be made on the lateral sides of storage areas. If this is also not possible due to lack of place then piped drainage from each drainage sector can be deviced in such a way that these pipes continue with their own sector water until thay reach the outskirts of the city. This will prevent spillage or overflow of water of one sector's water into another sector when it joins in a single open drain. Here the emphsis is on disallowing fast flowing water to accumulate at bottlenecks (as traffic at signals) and using the closed curvature of a pipe to increase water carrying capacity, when excess water comes in. Also these huge cement pipes can run on or along the existing drains thus saving space. One disadvantage is that these pipes if not monitored, will be used by antisocial elements as a safe haven in non rainy seasons.
