STOPPING EARTHQUAKES (disaster management)

The technique I am suggesting is a simple one but expensive to implement and monitor. The cost has to justified. Life insurance works on the socialitarian principle of 90% subscribers catering for the usual demise percentage of around 5% until 60 yrs of age. Let us suppose that there is an area which is earthquake prone and the casualty is just 30% in a 50 years span. The complete Life insurance cos. would become bankrupt with just one earthquake. Also modern cities have come into being only in the last few decades. An earthquake can have devastating losses. In these areas the expense would be justified.

The Idea
A string of super-thin aluminium containers embedded deep into the faultlines of the earth with pressure sensors over a wide area of a minimum of 500 kms stretching upto thousands of kms. Depth depends on our capability to reach deep and must be varied. Some of the containers are having nukes of 1/2kt yield calculated on the pressure needed to exert enough pressure to contain the forward movement of the advancing plates. Controlled periodic combined nuke explosions would halt the movement of earth plates into each other, considering that the continental plates exist only on the surface and the earths’ core is of molten lava.  It is as simple as that!
When you get into the intricacies the complications will become evident and this exercise when extended to sea beds will present a madness of complexities both in data collection and implementation. This also is as dangerous as playing around with genetic manipulations and robotics. So, ‘Caution’ is the watchword. However as a concept it is possible.

Limitations: we have to be extremely cautious since the counter effects, if not carried out diligently, would be of the creation of earthquakes, deep gorges and mountains elsewhere. Years of data and simulations can only perfect this idea.
